Narendra Kumar Chawla
Born on 13th January 1961, in a middle class family of father Shri Sunder Lal Chawla and mother Shrimati Raj Chawla. He completed his schooling from Janakpuri and graduated in commerce from Moti Lal Nehru College.
Narender ji, right from the start of his youth has been intensively aware of social impediments and problems of the day and solving them has constantly been his first priority. He has always had an urge and leaning towards helping “Daridra Narayan” and serve troubled and needy segment of society around him. Such an inspired youth could not remain away for long from the organization linked with social, political and economic uplift of the people.
He derived a sense of discipline and devotion from RSS and soon he was entrusted with responsibilities of a Mantri (Secretary) in Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and remained the Vibhag Pramukh for Dhaula Kuan (South Campus). He has ever remained very active in the activities of student wing of the Parishad.
Since 1979, in Mandal and District of BJP, he has worked in good positions with notable contribution and great success. As a Vice President in Youth Wing of BJP Delhi Pradesh he showed his worth and contribution which speaks of talent and depth in him. He played a vital role in campaigning and management in Lok Sabha elections of erstwhile BJP Candidates like Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Shri Madan Lal Khurana, Shrimati Sushma Swaraj, Shri Jagdish Mukhi and of Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma in recent past. He also worked in Assembly and Lok Sabha Elections in other states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Amritsar (Punjab), Himachal Pradesh etc.
He has been specially blessed by Ma Saraswati, due to which he is proficient in poetry, speech delivery and writing. The BJP Delhi Pardesh Abhyas Varg sessions addressed by him in Mandals of all over Delhi on “Bhashan Kalaa (Oratory Skills)” were most appreciated.
Whether it is Ram Mandir issue or Satyagreh, Narendra ji has always strived hard against injustice and has given voluntary arrests many a times while holding crucial responsibilities in demonstrations and movements organized by the Party. In 1988, he got married to Urmil ji, and in 1989 and 1992, he was blessed with two daughters, one of them is an Advocate at Delhi High Court and the other is a Teacher.
In the field of Indian & Cultural heritage, Narender Ji’s intensive and immense contribution since 1996 has worked as “Flying ship” celebrity. He has a deserving privilege of making an unparalleled contribution in organizing India’s best Ramleela and Krishna leela (Light and Sound) in this ward. He has remained deeply involved in the religious, social and welfare organizations. He led those with rare success by putting his heart and soul in totality. Beside, in his other aspect of personality, he gave to this ward, Janak Puri Club, which is one of the most prestigious family clubs of Delhi and also won all the elections of the club with highest margin from 1993 to 2017. He fought a long battle to save the Janakpuri Super Specialty Hospital from privatization, in which he was successful, due to which the free of cost services of the hospital are now open for all.
In the wake of problems of sealing and security, he not only formed and established the Confedration of Janakpuri Associations (which is the apex body over all the Residents’ Welfare Associations, Market Associations, Traders’ Association, Social and Religious Organizations of Janakpuri), but organized numerous camps for health care, blood donation, legal aid, student counseling, senior-citizens respect, distribution of equipments and aid to specially-abled persons through this organization. While holding the post of General Secretary of Delhi Study Group, he organized various large-scale programs and headed the teams deputed to represent India in South Korea, China, Nepal and Cambodia. He was appointed as the Publicity Peace Ambassador by HWPL, which is immensely contributing for the cause of World Peace.
Whenever this area and locality has confronted a problem, Narender Ji has been in fore-front to solve it or put his efforts to solve it along with others.
In recognition of his devoted services the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominated him as a candidate from Janakpuri West (Ward No. 15-S) for Delhi Municipal Elections of 2017.
The voters elected him as their Municipal Councillor with a heavy majority. He was nominated as a Mayor for 2018-19 and is also the Member of Standing Committee of South Delhi Municipal Corporation. As a Councillor, he is thoroughly working day in and day out for his ward. Apart from making sure that the regular complaints regarding work scope of Municipality are minimized and resolved at the earliest by giving long-term solutions, he actively takes up all the social issues that draw his attention and remains eager for working on them by taking assistance from appropriate authorities. He has established a direction relation with almost every household of Janakpuri by sending letters and making phone calls and by being with everyone in the hours of despair or happiness. He ensures that he fulfills all the promises made by him during election campaigning and adds a special effect to it by his working style and conduct which is cherished by one and all.
He has made weekly inspection rounds his feature where he visits areas of his ward with the officials and takes a round of the entire colony while talking to the residents, which gives him an insight of even slightest of problems that they encounter each day. He insures to find a speedy solution to those issues, and in most cases the problem is resolved within a week.
