His hardwork, commendable working style and honesty as a Municipal Councilor was noticed and appreciated by the party and he was nominated for the post of Mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation. He took oath as Mayor on 26th April 2018 and soon demonstrated it by his work that he will not just speed-up the regular functioning of corporation in a more effective manner but also design new formats and strategy by his contemporary and special way of thinking.

Very soon after his taking over as the Mayor, he proposed many Multi-level Parkings, stressed over the increase in the number of Ayush Dispensaries, upgraded the amenities in the area of education and health, he made the SDMC proud by beautification of Delhi out of the waste materials, and parks were beautified by creation of Seven-Wonders and animal like shapes, different kinds of tracks were also proposed for parks, use of which may cure many diseases. He proposed smart poles, which will facilitate the people with lighting, Wi-Fi, 360 degree camera, environmental sensor that will not only keep surveillance but will also give updates about pollution-levels. He also gave the idea of the train for fogging and spreading of chemicals for curbing the menace of dengue, malaria and chickungunya.

To recover old house-tax dues, he planned “Aam Mafi Yojna”, which benefitted not only the general public but also SDMC. He made the building bye-laws very easy and also simplified the process for obtaining Completion Certificate. Even when the court talked about reduction of minimum wages, he did not let the wages reduce keeping in mind the welfare of the employees of SDMC. He enhanced the amount given to girl children at SDMC schools from Rs. 500/- to Rs. 1000/-. Many more of such plans are yet to come, for which he is working day in and day out.

Change of conventional lights into LED lights has conserved resources, setting-up of solar panels has conserved resources and also reduced pollution level, under-flyover spaces and parks have been beautified by use of waste material under “Waste to Art” scheme, collection of garbage from door-to-door, use of mechanical sweepers and water sprinklers to reduce pollution, all these reasons have made South Delhi Municipal Corporation achieve 32nd rank out of 485 cities, for which he being the Mayor, has contributed a lot.

After the death of his role-model Hon’ble Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, he proposed and it was approved that the new building of SDMC, which will be tallest in Delhi that is under construction at Pragati Maidan be named after Atal ji.

Surprise-inspections are a unique part of his working style, by which the entire area falling within the jurisdiction of SDMC is deriving advantage. Every little complaint made by anyone even through Twitter or Facebook are taken on a serious note by him and he makes efforts to resolve the issue as soon as possible. By being in constant touch with many Residents’ Welfare Associations, Market Welfare Associations, Temple and Gurudwara Management Committees, NGOs and many other organizations representing all sections of the society, he gets an insight into the necessities and demands of the people, which he understands and acts accordingly.

Although it does not fall within the work-scope of SDMC, but he made water-conversation an agenda and endeavored to reach everyone with this message. He did commendable work for reduction of pollution level. He has an unparalleled contribution in the field of preservation of Indian art and culture and is a true patriot by nature, the glimpse of which can be seen in corporation’s work.

For giving meaning to “SDMC Apke Dwar” Yojna, he is bringing out many door-step delivery facilities, free postal-delivery of birth and death certificates is just one example of it. It first happened during his tenure only that SDMC started booking of community halls at a very nominal cost of just Rs. 1,000/- for the entire day for the purpose of conducting last rites. By all this, people had the belief that Narendra ji is the one who stands beside them in every moment of happiness and grief. These new schemes enhanced the expectations of the people towards him, which he is consistently striving to fulfill
